By Car
Wales is served by the M4, which is easily accessed from the north and south of England and Scotland.
1. Travelling east or west on the M4 exit at junction 32.
2. Follow the A470 north in the direction of Merthyr Tydil.
3. Take the A473 exit signposted Llantrisant and University of Glamorgan.
Parking
For the visitors car park take the third exit on the mini roundabout, and then take the first right to the main entrance and reception. On arrival all visitors should report to the main security gatehouse.
Cardiff International Airport
The airport is located 12 miles outside of Cardiff City Centre, and 20 miles from the University of Glamorgan. You can get a taxi directly from the airport to the university, which will cost approximately £35. There are no public transport links from the airport to the university.
By Rail
- A rail link connects Cardiff International Airport (Rhoose) and Cardiff Central Station.
- Rhoose train station is 1 mile from the airport and a courtesy bus is provided which links the airport with Rhoose train station.
- The train runs on an hourly basis.
- On arrival in Cardiff Central you will need to catch a connection to Trefforest Station.
- Gatwick and Heathrow airport to Cardiff Both Gatwick and Heathrow airports have rail links to Cardiff.
- You can book in advance but it is not the most practical option as you will have to book a seat on a specific train, and if there was a delay and you miss the train then you will need to buy a new ticket.
- We therefore advise you to buy your ticket on arrival.
- The journey will take approximately 3 hours.
- It is also possible to travel to Cardiff from both airports via London or Reading.
- By Coach Gatwick and Heathrow to Cardiff by Coach Both airports have direct coach links to Cardiff. There is a travel information desk at every terminal.
- The journey will take approximately 4-5 hours and cost approximately £36.
- The coaches operate approximately every 2 hours between 7am – 11pm. Please note that there is a limit on the amount of luggage you will be able to take on the coach (two medium sized cases- total maximum 20kg).
- By Bus You can catch the bus to Cardiff City Centre and then a train to Trefforest. There are regular bus services from the airport to Cardiff City Centre and will take approximately 40 minutes.
- The Airbus Xpress X91, the X45 Shamrock bus and the 95 Cardiff bus operates between the airport and the city centre approximately every 30 minutes, Monday-Saturday between the hours 7am-7pm and then hourly between 7.36pm- 10.36 pm.
- The X5 First Cymru service operates hourly on Sunday between 8.15am –9.35 pm. Additional Information
