CIPFA IIA collaboration

New internal audit standards for the public sector

IIA and the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy (CIPFA) are working with UK public sector organisations to establish a new public sector Internal Audit Standards Advisory Board (IASAB). This body will ensure that we have a single set of internal audit standards, based on the IIA’s International Professional Practices Framework (IPPF), for the UK public sector.  This new initiative is part of the collaboration announced in May 2011 between IIA and CIPFA to maintain and improve standards of internal auditing in the public sector.

The IASAB will comprise representatives from different areas of the public sector, the devolved governments and external observers, headed by an independent chair. The members will include practitioner representatives from the public sector and from the private sector.
