Feedback for Activity 5
You probably use a range of tools in your day to day work that can be applied to decision-making in negotiations. You can use these tools as part of joint decision-making or you can use them to help the other party make decisions themselves.
Cause and effect and decision tree diagrams can help you analyse problems and potential solutions in a systematic way. Similarly, Edward de Bono’s six thinking hats framework is a good brainstorming tool. It can help you assess problems and identify potential remedial actions.
When you are looking at risks you can use the ISO 31000 and COSO enterprise risk management frameworks. And when you are looking at controls, the COSO internal control – integrated framework, and the Coco models are useful. If you are considering controls as defence lines, you could also use the preventative-directive-detective-corrective framework.
