This section of the website outlines the Continuing Professional Development (CPD) requirements for our members and contains an online tool for assessing competencies and planning professional development.

Member requirements

All voting members of the IIA, except retired members, are required to plan their professional development, engage in development activity and review its impact. Further details can be found in the IIA’s Policy for members' CPD and the February 2009 Internal Auditing article Building Self Assurance

Compulsory

  • Undertaking planned professional development activity

  • Making an annual statement that activity has been undertaken

  • Keeping evidence of activity for three years

Optional

  • Documenting development online, available to all members
