How do you and your organisation plan your professional development?
We identify training and development needs and opportunities through the appraisal process, but people should be identifying development needs for themselves and their team throughout the year not just at the formal twice a year appraisal discussion. I often identify a development opportunity for getting up to speed with a particular issue, rather than needing to attend a formal training activity.

What sort of CPD activity do you undertake? Man on ladder
Reading Internal Auditing magazine, sector specific journals and bulletins, and newspapers, as well as attending formal training events.
Participation in IIA committees and RSM Tenon's internal sector groups. I think people often overlook the fact that getting involved in groups or committees is a great form of CPD.

is the 7th largest accounting firm in the UK, formed in 2009 after the merger of Tenon Group Plc and RSM Bentley Jennison. The internal audit and risk management division looks after more than 600 internal audit clients.
Rachel Bowden has been with the firm for 8 years, in the technical team for 6 years, and was promoted to Director in 2010.
