The distance learning programme has been designed and developed in conjunction with London South Bank University (LSBU) and includes access to internet-based resources, tutor support, assignments and mock exams. You will enrol as a LSBU student as well as an IIA Learning student, which means you will have access to a range of LSBU resources including its electronic library facilities, and range of on-line journals. In addition, we offer revision workshops to help consolidate your learning and prepare for your exams.
The learning materials
You have access to an online resource containing learning material, learning activities, reading lists and a bank of examination-style questions. We will also provide you with a CD Rom of the learning materials - so you can access the material in a way that is convenient for you.
Assignments
You can undertake an assignment for each module on which you are enrolled. The assignments will help reinforce and extend your learning, and hone your research skills. Your tutors mark and comment on your assignments.
Mock exam
You can undertake a full mock exam for each module on which you are enrolled. They are an invaluable way of preparing for the real thing. The mock exams are placed on the website about eight weeks before the examinations. You can complete them under examination conditions at home and submit them to your tutors for marking. As well as the individual feedback you will get on your scripts you will also receive guidance notes.
Dedicated tutor support
You are allocated a tutor for each module on which you are enrolled. Tutors are highly experienced in the subject you are studying, and will help you get the most out of your learning materials. They will also mark and comment on your assignments and mock exams and provide advice and guidance.
How do I study?
To enter the programme, you must be prepared to study at postgraduate level. This means that you will need to read around the subject, and undertake research. The learning programme will support you in your studies by providing you with essential learning material and reading lists. You are provided with optional assignments and mock exams.
You should plan to spend about 180 hours on each module to go through the learning material, undertake research and further reading. You should also plan to set aside time to undertake the assignment and mock exam.
For the Strategic Management and Risk Assurance and Audit Management modules, you will need to purchase or borrow additional learning material to support your learning.
Where do I start?
You can undertake the studies for the three theory modules - Financial Management, Risk Assurance and Audit Management, and Strategic Management - in any order and you can study as many as you like at any one study session. However, you should consider the time you can realistically commit to studying when deciding on the number of modules for which to apply. Once accepted on a study session, you cannot defer your studies to subsequent sessions.
