National School of Government
Tuition for the IIA Diploma and Advanced Diploma
Sunningdale Park, Ascot and Edinburgh, Scotland (from September 2008)
The National School of Government has been an IIA-approved tuition provider for over two decades. The National School was launched in 2005 as a new organisation incorporating the former CMPS/Civil Service College. It is based at our purpose-built residential training centre in Sunningdale Park, Berkshire. From September 2008 NSG will also offer training and support for the IIA Diploma in Scotland.
Our mission is to train, develop and encourage highly successful and professional internal auditors. Our Diploma and Advanced Diploma programme, including Diploma skills modules, is designed to support students through the IIA exams in a way that ensures each participating student is able to perform to professional standards.
The Diploma and Advanced Diploma block release programme runs from September through to June each year. Each course lasts from three to five days. The programme is designed on a ‘drop-in’ basis and new students can join the next course available. The programme employs the following strands:
- Highly competent and experienced tutors who are hand picked for their practical internal audit experience as well as their in depth knowledge of the Diploma and Advanced Diploma syllabi and their ability to engage and encourage all types of students
- A focus on the IIA exams that is not diluted by any other qualification
- Residential block release providing a conducive environment for shared learning and providing better
understanding of the complex and multi-faceted context of modern IA context
- Highly interactive learning in comfortable surroundings rather than large auditoriums
- Extensive use of group exercises and specially written case studies that seek to enhance the learning experience of students
- Comprehensive handouts and support material
- Internal Audit management and specific student needs are the focus of our programme design and delivery
- Fallback facilities and extra tutorials if students require further assistance
- A clear focus on preparing students for the exams and guiding them through the journey to becoming a qualified professional
