Tuition for the IIA Diploma and Advanced Diploma
The University of Glamorgan is the only day release tuition provider in Wales and builds on our existing expertise at providing tuition for professional accounting programmes.
Course delivery
The Diploma in Internal Audit Practice course is delivered on both a block release and day release basis so students can choose what suits them best. It is anticipated that students enrolling on the Diploma in Internal Audit Practice day release programme in September will be able to take all five theory modules over the academic year. Students enrolling on the Advanced Diploma in Internal Auditing and Management are able to undertake the course on a day release basis and will be able to take all four theory modules over the course of the academic year.
We deliver the course mainly by short lectures, followed by tutorial discussion and question practice – largely centred on past or similar standard exam questions. We provide direct readings and question practice, supported by appropriate feedback. The course team provides summative assessment and monitoring, including weekly directed homework, use of test questions and mock exams. We give regular feedback to students, and to employers if necessary.
In addition the University offers remedial support. Various workshops and tutorials are available to assist students and improve academic performance, including exam technique and study skills.
Study and support materials
The primary support materials will be the Institute’s study text augmented by tutor-supplied material, including module handbooks and directed learning resources. These resources will include the University's own support materials available on our web-based Blackboard system. Blackboard is the latest software technology, a modern online learning environment that is accessible both on and off campus. It complements lectures and tutorial sessions by providing teaching materials online, along with computer-based learning and assessment.
Lecturing team
The programme will be delivered by a team of fully qualified professional tutors. The majority are professionally qualified accountants and have experience in working in internal audit in the public and private sector. The course director, Geraint Evans, has worked as a senior lecturer in accounting and finance at the University of Glamorgan Business School for ten years and during this time has taught and run various undergraduate, postgraduate and professional courses at all levels.
Location
The School is located at the University’s Trefforest campus, situated in Pontypridd and just 20 minutes from Cardiff. There are excellent road, rail and bus links to the campus. The University has outstanding sports, recreational, IT and study facilities.
