Company Profile

With more than 40 leading brands and over 36 million customers in 30 countries, The Royal Bank of Scotland Group is one of the world’s largest financial organisations. Our growth has been both organic and driven by acquisitions. We entered the US market by acquiring Citizens Bank and it’s now a top-ten US commercial banking business. We’ve also completed the biggest takeover in British banking history to create the largest retail network in the UK. And following our partnership with the Bank of China, we’re becoming a major player in the world’s fastest growing economy too.

Group Internal Audit

With a team of over 350 people, in locations from London, Edinburgh and Dublin to Hong Kong, Boston and New York – Group Internal Audit (GIA) is far more than just an ordinary internal auditing practice. Our vision is to be a first-class team, producing a first-class product and delivering a first-class service to our customers.

What do we do?

The RBS group is a truly global business and in GIA, we see it all. By identifying the key risks and threats facing the Group, we create a plan for auditing their management and provide an assessment of how the main business risks are being managed and controlled. This enables managers to make calculated decisions that balance risk and reward.

Our aim is simple – to improve the business.

What we can offer you [the graduate]

As a graduate with us, you’ll be given all the responsibility and support you need to make a real contribution to our business. At the same time,

it will be down to you to make it happen in terms of achieving your own goals too. We’ll provide formal training, excellent support and a phenomenal infrastructure, but we’ll also look to you to shape your own career and determine how far and in what direction you want to go.

Beyond the ability to take the initiative and drive your own development, you’ll need to bring a good degree. We’ll expect at least a 2:1 ideally in a business or finance-related subject. A good understanding of how the commercial world works is vital so you’ll certainly have some work experience behind you, whether you’ve gained it through a part-time job or a university placement.

  • A two-year rotational programme with support to achieve a business-related qualification
  • £competitive salary, benefits and sign-on bonus
  • Opportunities in London, Edinburgh and Dublin
  • Potential rotations in Asia, the US and Europe
  • Opportunity for both UK and overseas travel

What it’s like working with us

“What I enjoy most about working here is the variety of processes I get the chance to learn about, and working alongside such a wide range of people with different experiences and attitudes.”

Eleanor Woodcock, Group Internal Audit Graduate
