Training

  1. Can I book a place on one of your courses over the phone?

All bookings for training courses and events must be carried out through one of our registration processes. You can complete the online registration form which is linked to every event, or download a pdf booking form which can be faxed or sent back to the training department to confirm your place.

  2. What other dates do you have scheduled for ... course?

Go to course listing for the latest course dates, or alternatively contact trainingandevents@iia.org.uk for further information.

  3. If I am unable to attend the course I am booked on can I transfer to a different date?

There is no charge for transferring your booking to the same course on an alternative date provided you notify the IIA in writing up to 20 working days before the start of the course and that there is availability. However, a transfer fee of 20% of the course fee (plus VAT) will be payable if notice is received within 20 workings days of the start date of the original course. No refund will be made in the event of a transfer. No more than one transfer will be allowed.

  4. When is a course confirmed?

Receipt of joining instructions confirms that a course will take place, these will be sent to delegates up to 2 weeks prior to the start date of the course. An acknowledgement letter or invoice must not be seen as confirmation that a course will definitely run. Please contact the Training department before making any travel arrangements and if you are in any doubt about the course taking place.

  5. How can I contact the Training Department?

Please email trainingandevents@iia.org.uk or call 0845 883 4739. Details of other departments can be found under Contact us.

  6. What time do courses start and finish?

All courses have different start and finish times, however a timetable will be sent to all delegates as part of the joining instructions pack prior to the course. As a general guide, course run from 9am-5pm.

  7. When will I receive an invoice for course fees?

Payment for course fees must be received before the start of the course/event or within 30 days of the invoice date, whichever is sooner. Cheque and credit card payments will be charged and invoiced immediately upon receipt. For security reasons we do not recommend that you send credit card details by email but contact us by phone or fax instead. If your organisation requires a purchase order number to be stated on the invoice, please ensure that this number is quoted on the booking form or your correspondence. For delegates based outside the EU, full payment of course fees is required at the initial booking stage before any further documenation will be issued.

  8. What is the dress code?

Institute training courses and events are not intended to be formal therefore business suits are not required. Most delegates feel comfortable in smart casual clothing.

  9. Will I be charged if I have to cancel my place on a course?

If you notify the IIA in writing that you wish to cancel your place up to 10 working days prior to the start of the course you will receive a full refund less an administration fee of 20% (plus VAT). Unfortunately late cancellations sometimes cause events to be abandoned, therefore, if you cancel within the 10 day period the fee will remain payable in full if you are unable to nominate a substitute.

  10. What are the fees for ... course?

Fees vary for each course and are quoted exclusive of VAT, please refer to the event details or the training brochure for further information.

  11. How can I check if you have availability on a specific course?

Please phone the Training department for up to date information on course.event availability, if the course is full they will advise you of alternative dates.

  12. Do you offer any discounts?

Members of the IIA and members of certain other institutes receive a discount on all IIA training courses and events. Organisations booking five or more delegates on the same course on the same date will be offered a 10% discount of the total fee plus VAT.

  13. If the course is fully residential, what is included in the course fee?

Where courses are indicated as fully residential, the fee includes course materials, meals and refreshments throughout and accommodation for the nights during the course. For example a 3 day course on 8-10 March will include accommodation for the 8th and 9th March only. If you require additional accommodation, you will need to arrange this direct with the venue. Details of how to do this will be outlined in the joining instructions and you must state the course title, date and the IIA in order to receive any preferential rates (subject to availability).
