The IIA – UK and Ireland is affiliated to the global Institute of Internal Auditors, located in Altamonte Springs, Florida, USA. Established in 1941, the global Institute represents more than 160,000 members across 165 countries and territories. As one of the top ten internal audit institutes, the IIA - UK and Ireland has a seat on the global Board of Directors, and also contributes to the work of the Internal Audit Standards Board, a global committee of the IIA.

Global IIA sets the International Professional Practices Framework (IPPF) - a set of authoritative guidance developed by IIA international technical committees.
