Global partnership deal brings benefits for ACCA members
26 January 2007
ACCA (the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) has signed a partnership agreement with The Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA), the international professional association based in Florida, USA.
This agreement offers a streamlined approach for IIA enrolment on a global basis delivering robust opportunities for members to join IIA affiliate networks.
In the UK a fast track exemption route has been agreed for ACCA members wishing to take the Advanced Diploma in Internal Auditing and Management (MIIA). This route requires ACCA members to take only the Advanced Internal Auditing Case Study Module and complete the professional experience log in order to gain the qualification.
This exemption route is time bound and is offered to ACCA members enrolling for an examination sitting in either June or November 2007 only. Thereafter, ACCA members wishing to gain the Advanced Diploma in Internal Auditing and Management will need to complete the qualification under the standard IIA exemption rules.
As part of this exclusive exemption route, ACCA members will receive a 20% discount on their first year's IIA student membership and will not have to pay the application fee. Existing IIA members who are ACCA qualified are also eligible to apply for fast track exemption under the terms of this deal.
Clare Minchington, managing director, education, learning and development at ACCA, said: "This is an exciting development which will enable ACCA members to register as professional internal auditors with The IIA under one membership model. The IIA and ACCA are truly global organisations, with synergies which make it ideally suited to a joint arrangement such as this. The benefits are clear for ACCA members, and we look forward to working with The IIA in the future."
Gail Easterbrook, Chief Executive at the IIA – UK and Ireland said: "I am delighted that ACCA members will benefit not only from being part of the global IIA but also from the services and products which have been developed to meet the specific needs of the UK and Irish market. This fast track exemption route enables ACCA members to demonstrate their professional commitment to the internal auditing profession at the same time as providing a recognised route through the ACCA's own CPD process".
