IIA Chief Executive, Dr Ian Peters, has responded to Sir David Walker’s review of the corporate governance of UK banks, saying:

“We welcome the fact that the Walker Review has put responsibility for risk management in banks firmly in the Boardroom. The report as a whole is an important step towards strengthening governance in the financial sector.

“To ensure this recommendation is truly effective over the long term, we will be seeking clarification from Sir David Walker on how the proposed Risk Committees and Chief Risk Officer (CRO) role relates to the assurance provision of internal audit functions.”
