IIA - UK and Ireland Annual Report 2009

Annual Report 2009 The Annual Report for the year ended 31 March 2009 marks the 60th year since the Institute’s formation. It documents a year of significant development, even in difficult market conditions.

The IIA’s key strategic objectives for the year have been to raise standards at all levels of the profession, raise aspirations of internal audit as a career and to continue raise awareness of the value of internal audit as a cornerstone of good governance. The campaign to seek Chartered status is a key part of the strategy to raise standards.

Despite the challenging economic climate, a modest growth in membership to very near 8,500 was achieved. A number of new group schemes have also been acquired and participation in our qualifications was high. The syllabus of the IIA Diploma in Internal Audit Practice was reviewed and launched, experience-based routes to achieve the Diploma were introduced and design of a new IT audit qualification was completed. Redevelopment of our website to integrate key member data and enhance the look and feel was undertaken and a Virtual Learning environment introduced.
