Fiona Warren - Internal Auditor, Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust
"I was drawn into Internal Audit because of its wide remit and it was clear that this was not just a career focussing on the financial side of an organisation i.e. the financial systems, risks and controls, but about the wider and current issues faced by an organisation. As I work within the NHS this could be anything from the NHS organisations reaction and compliance to new published guidance in relation to Safeguarding Children, Emergency Planning and Pandemic Flu (both of which are highly topical at present) and also their preparation and demonstration of annual compliance against national standards.
"I was interested in being able to directly contribute to the assessment of many internal systems, and seeing improvements in quality and performance as direct results of my work."
