Hours and travel
An internal auditor will usually work a standard 35-hour week. As with most jobs, additional hours may be required to meet deadlines, including weekends and evenings.
Most internal audit work is office based but internal auditors often have to travel to client’s premises, including regional and local sites and warehouses. This may involve nights away or travel overseas.
Ruth Wilkinson - Trainee Auditor, HBOS Plc"Over the last year, my role has been very challenging, working on several exciting audits around retail banking and credit card fraud. My work has been very varied which has been invaluable to my learning. Internal audit gives a fantastic start for a graduate with a thirst for knowledge. It allows you to gain a deep understanding of the business as a whole. Internal audit offers fantastic career opportunities, to travel and meet a wide variety of people, especially senior colleagues."
