Membership

The IIA offers the following types of membership:

Student membership for those not yet holding either PIIA, MIIA designation, wishing to study for one of our qualifications:

IIA Diploma in Internal Audit Practice
IIA Advanced Diploma in Internal Auditing and Management
IIA Certificate in Internal Audit and Business Risk

Students who successfully complete the IIA Diploma in Internal Audit Practice or the Advanced Diploma in Internal Auditing and Management will become voting members, in recognition of their achievement. Voting members are able to fully participate in all the activities of the IIA including shaping policy and having a voice in the governance of the IIA. They may vote at Annual General Meetings, stand for election as a Director or become chairman of one of our key committees.

Affiliate membership  for those working in internal audit who seek access to professional support and guidance but who prefer not to study for a qualification.

Subscription discounts are available through the IIA's Group membership Scheme  for organisations who wish to register ten or more employees as members of a group scheme.

Heads of Internal Audit Service membership designed specifically to provide specialist information and support to help heads of internal audit respond to the demands of a competitive and increasingly regulated business climate.

It provides an exclusive service package, combined with affiliate membership of the IIA, including:

  • Knowledge, practical tools and leading edge insight
  • Opportunities to influence the IIA and the profession
  • Excellent networking, sharing and benchmarking services for leaders of the profession.

Fellowship is awarded by the Council of Directors to members in order to recognise a sustained contribution to the IIA. It demonstrates that that the holder is a senior, active and committed member of the profession.

Members who have been designated Fellows of the IIA may use the designation FIIA as recognition of their award.

The majority of fellowships will made by nomination, but in exceptional circumstances the Council may choose to award fellowship by election or honorary fellowship.
