Chairman's introduction – Tracey Knox

Welcome to the South West District web page. We hope that you find the information you need but if not please let me or one of the committee know. A link to our contact details is shown on this page.

I have recently become the Chair of the South West District and I will, along with my fellow Committee members, endeavour to continue to make our District one of the most successful Districts in terms of events delivered and attendees at such events. Our objective is to provide a District presence of the IIA UK and Ireland within the South West by arranging low cost training events, encouraging membership to the Institute and acting as a focal point for audit and risk issues within the area. Our event aim is to facilitate networking, provide presentations and hold discussions with a variety of keynote speakers from all areas of business and types of organisation.

The District committee usually has around 14 voluntary members including office bearers and the Regional Director. Our booking coordinator is a fundamental member of our team and as such attends our Committee meetings. We try to reflect the membership so we have committee members from across the region and from both private and public sectors. We try to attract "new blood" on a regular basis and this year have had a tremendous response to our request for more potential new members. If your organisation can spare you for a few days a year then please still feel free to contact us to discuss joining the committee either now or in the future or just helping out in a less formal way.

We are always keen to receive feedback on events to try to improve them although there are always some things which are outside our control e.g traffic issues! Feel free to complete a questionnaire provided at one of our events or email the Committee direct.

The District Society is YOUR Society so please help us to make a difference in the South West.

The Committee and I look forward to meeting you at one of our events in the coming programme.
