I chair the IIA South West Committee and along with my fellow Committee members work together to provide local events to all auditors in the area on current and up and coming audit topics and issues. Through our events we promote the work of the Chartered Institute of Internal Auditors as our overall governing body and wherever possible encourage our members that membership of the Chartered Institute is an essential tool for maintaining their knowledge and gaining valuable insight into global audit perspectives. Our objective is to provide a Regional presence of the Chartered Institute within the South West and act as a focal point for audit and risk issues within the geographical area. Our event aim is to facilitate networking, provide presentations and hold discussions with a variety of keynote speakers from all areas of business and types of organisation. Our events are aimed to provide tasters for the training provided by the Chartered Institute’s central learning and development events.
The IIA South West Committee usually has around 14 voluntary members including office bearers. Our booking coordinator is a fundamental member of our team and as such attends our Committee meetings. We try to reflect the membership so we have committee members from across the region and from both private and public sectors. We try to attract "new blood" on a regular basis and currently have a very balanced mix of auditors from across the region. These volunteers work tirelessly to plan, organise and chair day meetings which will help members and non-members alike. If your organisation can spare you for a few days a year then please still feel free to contact us to discuss joining the committee either now or in the future or just helping out in a less formal way.
We are always keen to receive feedback on events to try to improve them although there are always some things which are outside our control e.g. the weather and traffic! Feel free to complete a questionnaire provided at one of our events or email the Committee direct.
