Volunteer of the Year nomination form 2010

The Volunteer of the Year Award recognises individual members who have made a significant contribution to the IIA as a volunteer. It is one of the ways that the IIA says ‘thank you’ to those who generously give their time, energy and skills to the work of the Institute.

Award criteria

In order to be eligible for the award, nominees must:

  • Be a current member of the IIA
  • Have been active within the IIA on a project or committee at local, regional or national level for a minimum of three years
  • Be a capable volunteer, displaying skills that have been of value to the IIA over the year
  • Be recognised by their peers as a leading advocate for the profession of internal auditing and as an outstanding contributor to the IIA
  • In addition, whilst nominees should be able to demonstrate consistent and effective volunteer activity, Council will wish to see evidence of involvement in a specific voluntary project over the year in which their nomination is made, this has to have been:
    • Unpaid
    • Typically have required a minimum of 24 volunteer hours during the year and to have demonstrably contributed to the achievement of the IIA's objectives

In deciding between nominees of equal merit, Council will place the greatest emphasis on the voluntary project during the year which has contributed most to the achievement of the IIA's objectives.

Members typically eligible for the award include active members of the District Society committees, national committees or their equivalent.
