Former UK and Ireland Institute President Chairs Global IIA Board

The Institute of Internal Auditors' global umbrella body has
announced the election of Philip D. Tarling, CIA, CRMA, CMIIA, as
its global chairman.
Tarling, who has formerly held the presidency of the UK and
Ireland Institute of Internal Auditors and the Eurpean
Conferederation of Institutes of Internal Audit (ECIIA),
has more than 25 years of internal audit and finance
experience in the private and public sector. He is currently vice
president, Internal Audit Centre of Excellence for Huawei
Technologies Co. Ltd., a global telecommunications company based in
China and the United Kingdom.
His service to The IIA includes leadership roles in The IIA's
Executive Committee, The IIA's Board of Directors, and the Internal
Auditing Academic Advancement Fund's Board of Directors. He
has also served on The IIA's Investment, Institute Relations, and
Global Finance Committees, as well as the Global Governance Task
Force.
"As chairman of the board, Phil Tarling is stepping into the
spotlight and becoming a chief spokesperson for the internal audit
profession at a global level over the coming year," said IIA Global
President and CEO Richard Chambers.
"It is a tremendous responsibility to take on and one that I am
confident he will executive with as much professionalism and
commitment as he has demonstrated in the many years of service to
The IIA and the profession that have earned him this honour."
As Chair, Tarling will appoint all committee chairmen,
committee members, task forces members, and work group members.
He also will maintain relations with The IIA's membership,
the public, and other professional organizations. He will serve in
his position for a one-year term.
