The institute

The Chartered Institute of Internal Auditors is the only professional association for internal auditors in the UK and Ireland. 

We represent the profession of internal auditing and we deliver services to internal auditors. 

Our policy work helps us to raise the profile of the profession and to represent our members to regulators, government and the media.

Our qualifications, training, services and resources help internal auditors to be the best they can be.  

We have over 10,000 members across the UK and Ireland. We are part of the Global IIA which has 180,000 members in 190 countries.  

All these members are committed to a common Code of Ethics and follow the International Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing. 

We operate at a local level through our nine regions. These are run by an army of volunteer members who deliver excellent local events and who are often keen to welcome new volunteers. 

We have nearly 50 staff, mostly based at our offices in Clapham, London. We have been in business since 1948 and we were granted a royal charter in 2010.
