Graham Gillespie, chair

Partner, Wylie & Bisset

Graham joined Wylie & Bisset as a Trainee in 2002 and has over 10 years' experience in providing internal audit services. 

As Partner, he oversees a large portfolio of internal audit clients and works closely with senior management and boards to provide assurance and advisory reviews aimed at adding maximum value to the organisation. He's responsible for leading on special investigations for his clients and is a regular presenter at seminars on internal control and fraud.

Graham is Chair of the Chartered IIA's Scotland Committee and a member of the Fraud Advisory Panel. 


Stewart Brown CMIIA

Internal Audit Manager, Macfarlane Group  

Following a career in financial services, Stewart moved to Scott-Moncrieff where he qualified as a Chartered Internal Auditor. As a Chartered Internal Auditor, he was responsible for managing the delivery of internal audit and advisory services to a range of public sector and commercial clients.

Since then, he's moved into the commercial sector where he's overseen the maintenance and audit of the ISAE3402 control framework for CBRE. Elsewhere, he's managed the delivery of the internal audit service for Macfarlane Group - the UK’s leading packaging distributor.


Jennifer Bruce

Internal Audit Manager, Standard Life Aberdeen

Jennifer has over eight years’ experience within the Internal Audit Asset Management team at Standard Life Aberdeen.

Whilst now based in Scotland, Jennifer leads on the internal audit coverage of the Luxembourg operation. Her audit engagements have been focused on the European operations of Standard Life Aberdeen, specifically distribution, HR, finance and back office operations.

Prior to her move into internal audit, Jennifer worked in the Transfer Agency part of the business and was instrumental in setting up those operations in the Standard Life Aberdeen Luxembourg office.

During her time in Luxembourg, Jennifer was a member of the IIA Luxembourg and completed her CMIIA qualification. Jennifer joined our Scotland committee in January 2019.


Colin Howden

Director, Archer Risk and Control Solutions Ltd

Colin is a self-employed Contractor at Standard Life Aberdeen and works in the company's business risk services team. He's responsible for leading and delivering risk advisory and internal audit services to clients in the financial services sector.

He's worked for Morgan Stanley, RBS, Virgin Money, TSB and BBA Aviation and possesses over 13 years' experience in management and leadership at internal audit level.

Colin is a qualified Chartered Accountant and a member of ICAS. He is an affiliate member of the Chartered IIA and has been a member of IIA Scotland committee since January 2018. 


Lisa MacDonald CMIIA

Audit manager – Risk, Finance and Functions, RBS

Lisa has over 14 years' internal audit and risk management experience, including seven years' in a Big Four audit environment.  

In that time, she worked across a range of public and private sector organisations including financial service, FMCG and health.

Lisa then moved into an audit role at Electrocomponents which allowed her to enjoy a few years of global travel and enhance her industry experience. She then returned to Scotland in 2013 to join RBS and is responsible for the delivery of the HR audit plan across the bank.

Lisa is CMIIA qualified and as well as being a member of the IIA Scotland committee, also leads the student engagement workstream.


Alistair May CMIIA QIAL

Treasurer and Secretary, IIA Scotland

Alistair has been a member of Chartered IIA's Scotland committee for over 10 years and, not so long ago, retired as Head of Internal Audit for Strathclyde University.

For a period of roughly 30 years, Alistair worked in internal audit for the Scottish government, and served as the Head of Internal Audit.

Alistair was a member of the CIPfA Better Governance Forum for many years and served on the UK public sector advisory board.


Paul Skinnider

Head of Audit – People Risk, Lloyds Banking Group

Paul joined Lloyds Banking Group in November 2014 and currently leads the group’s People Risk audit team. Prior to LBG, Paul spent a year in group audit at Oxford University Press having returned to the UK after a stint in New York working for Heineken as Audit Director for their Americas business.

Paul has an undergraduate degree in Business and HR Management, and a post-graduate diploma in Audit Management and Consultancy. A Chartered Internal Auditor, he joined the Chartered IIA's Scotland committee in 2016.

Steven Welsh

Head of audit, CYB

Steven joined CYB in 2001 and has audited all areas of the bank.

His current accountabilities include running the team and delivering assurance on finance, customer value products, corporate development, HR, legal and governance and remediation activities. In addition, he has led structural and capability transformation in audit teams and undertaken significant internal investigations.

Steven is a qualified Accountant (ACCA) and an affiliate member of the Chartered IIA, where he facilitates the leadership (HoIA and senior manager fora) and corporate liaison of the Scotland committee.  


Fraser Wilson

Partner, PwC

A qualified Chartered Accountant, Fraser joined PwC as a graduate in 2000, where he initially developed his career in external audit across multiple industry sectors. A move to risk assurance and a focus on financial services clients has aligned with career progression and promotion to Director in 2010 and then Partner in 2014.

He's also responsible for a number of client relationships and teams who deliver both assurance and advisory work in respect of clients' risks, processes and controls – focusing specifically on outsourced relationships, regulatory compliance, performance-related information and non-financial reporting, using recognised reporting standards.


Elizabeth Young

Director - internal Audit, Scott-Moncrieff

As Head of Scott-Moncrieff’s internal audit practice, Elizabeth's responsible for ensuring the firm delivers a high-quality, effective and efficient service to all its internal audit clients. This includes having overall responsibility for maintaining the firm’s internal audit methodology and quality assurance regime as well as for the training and development of the team.

She also oversees a portfolio of internal audit clients, and has experience in the public sector, having worked across both the corporate and charity sectors in the past. In addition to being member of the Chartered IIA's Scotland committee, Elizabeth sits on ICAS’s audit and assurance panel.
