Risk in Focus provides a touchpoint for internal audit to benchmark over 300 organisations across seven European countries. This event will provide an overview of these key risks and how organisations are facing them.
One of the most prevalent risks that has emerged from research relates to cyber security, which follows on from the previous two years of the risk in focus research. This session will focus on a deep dive into cyber security, with four experienced speakers who will provide their perspective across various sectors. Including key cyber risks and their experiences of mitigating these.

As the Regional Director of the Institute's Scotland committee, Derek has extensive experience in the financial industry, including DSL and KPMG. Derek’s current role with the Institute will shape the future approach to development of the profession across the other regions in the UK and Ireland.
Asam Malik - Director, Mazars
Asam leads Mazars Technology Solutions Practice in the UK, which provides IT advisory and assurance services to clients. He has over 18 years’ experience advising clients on how to better leverage technology and manage technology and data risk. Asam specialises in IT strategy, cyber security, digital disruption, transformation assurance, IT assurance, third party assurance, data analytics, ERP systems, system selection, IT resilience and business continuity, CIO and board technology advisory.
Chris Atkinson - Manager in Cyber Risk, Deloitte
Chris is a Security Practitioner with over 15 years’ experience spanning cyber risk, threat assessment, incident response, strategy development, change management and programme governance. Part of Deloitte’s cyber practice in the UK, Chris has worked with a variety of clients across the public services and energy sectors.
Mahbubul Islam - Head of Government Transformational Security, The Cabinet Office
Mahbubul is a Chartered Security Professional and has worked in the security profession for over 12 years, covering various functional security roles - eight years of which he spent in security leadership. Mahbubul has taken a converged approach to security assurance, audit and delivery, and often transitions between physical and cyber pillars of security based on project engagement.
