The IIA Certificate is a practical, accredited modular course that you can tailor to your needs. If you're new to internal audit, need a refresher, or you work in a related role, such as compliance, it will give you a thorough grounding in the practice and principles of audit, governance, risk and assurance.

In studying for the certificate, you will need to complete four awards from the list below to earn the IACert designation, including two core IIA awards and two optional IIA awards.
You can also study any of the awards on a standalone basis if you wish. Each one will give you a thorough grounding in the practice and principles of one of the cornerstones of internal audit.

IIA Award in the internal audit planning and assurance framework Understand the framework within which internal controls and assurance are set. Learn how internal control contributes to the success of an organisation. |

IIA Award in the effective delivery of audit and assurance Learn how to contribute to the effective delivery of audit objectives, including providing assurance to clients and adding value to the organisation. |
IIA Award in interpersonal skills for audit and assurance Most internal audit work involves dealing with other people so interpersonal skills are essential. Learn tools, techniques and exercises to improve your skills. |
IIA Award in compliance audit and assurance Understand the purpose of compliance auditing and carry out such audits for a client. Learn methods used for testing, gathering evidence and evaluating findings and assurance. |
Each award requires about 30 hours of learning through reading, reflection, workshop attendance and completion of a Personal Development Log (PDL).
You will need to do some reading and set objectives before attending each workshop. Then, you will submit a personal development log for each award within six weeks of the workshop.
The final stage is to submit your Professional Experience Record (PER).
There are no exams to sit and the IIA Certificate is not graded. You will be assessed through personal development logs and your professional experience record.
It costs £4,285 + VAT to complete the four IIA Certificate awards. This includes all learning material, four two-day workshops, and the assessments.
