Qualification in Internal Audit Leadership

The Qualification in Internal Audit Leadership (QIAL) was developed by IIA Global in collaboration with us (the Chartered IIA), and was launched in 2014.

IIA Global have announced that they will be withdrawing the Qualification in Internal Audit Leadership (QIAL) and that the final exams will take place in December 2022. We are, therefore, no longer taking enrolment for this qualification.

IIA Global will continue to recognise the QIAL, and members are urged to continue logging their CPE as usual.

Members who would like to undertake a leadership programme for internal audit should consider the Chartered by Learning programme which leads to the CMIIA designation offered by us.

Members who are enrolled on the QIAL can transition to the Chartered by Learning programme and are eligible for the following exemptions:

• If you passed Case Study 2 (Organizational Leadership), then you are exempt from Module 1: Strategy
• If you passed Case Study 1 (Internal Audit Leadership) and Case Study 3 (Ethical Leadership), then you are exempt from Module 2: Leadership

The qualification was embedded into Chartered Internal Auditor status, for members of the Chartered IIA. Members could complete the three case studies and a Professional Experience Journal to obtain CMIIA, or do the three case studies and the interview and presentation to obtain the QIAL.
